Journal of World Trade Studies (JWTS) is a research journal published by the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada. JWTS provides a platform for researchers, academics, professionals, practitioners and students to share knowledge in the form of empirical research, theoretical, as well as case studies.

Article Submission Guidelines

  1. The manuscript should address an important research question, theoretically innovative, and methodologically diverse in trade-related issues which can be analyzed from multi-disciplinary approaches.
  2. Preferable themes for the manuscript including, but not limited to:
    • Indonesia’s competitiveness in international trade
    • Indonesia’s international trade policy
    • Indonesia’s position and strategy in international trade
    • International trade disputes
    • International trade agreements
    • Regional economic integration
  3. The Journal of World Trade Studies (JWTS) receives manuscripts both in English and in Bahasa Indonesia.
  4. The manuscript submitted to JWTS must not have been published and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  5. Manuscript submission comprises:
    • Cover letter which includes: a title page with all authors’ name; the corresponding authors’ mailing address and all authors’ email address.
    • Abstract; consist of 150-200 words.
    • Article with approximately 5000-7500 words (including Bibliography)
  6. Format all the text and appendix materials to double-spaced in a standard 12-point type font and standard page margin.
  7. The manuscript should follow the style guidelines based in the Chicago Manual of Style (notes and bibliography). For more detailed information on stylistic requirements, author can also consult the Chicago Manual of Style’s website: .

Master of Arts in International Trade Studies Master of Arts in International Trade Studies

MITS is a multi-disciplinary graduate programme in International Trade Studies which is initiated and developed under WTO Chairs Programme (WCP) UGM Indonesia. WCP is a programme introduced by The Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) WTO in 2010 to enhance capacities of developing countries academic institutes in trade studies, particularly in academic, research and outreach activities. MITS is currently administered under Graduate Program in International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UGM, as one of its academic program. It however comprises faculty members originated from diverse academic backgrounds, ranging from Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture to Faculty of Economics and Business.

Greetings from Geneva!

Within this report, I would like to convey the report of my three-day participation in the consecutive public discussions of WTO Public Forum 2011 in WTO headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland. This event is an annual event conducted by the WTO headquarters purported to accommodate and discuss current global trade issues from various perspectives. This event involves trade stakeholders from around the world, e.g. government representatives, academicians, NGO representatives, international civil servants on behalf of many international organizations, etc.
