Dr. Maharani Hapsari

Dr. Maharani Hapsari (Rani) is an assistant professor at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and the current Executive Secretary at the Center for World Trade Studies (CWTS) Universitas Gadjah Mada. Rani has over 15 years of experience in research on the politics of natural resource commodities in Indonesia, trade and environment in developing countries, and knowledge of co-production on sustainability transition. Rani has conducted various research on palm oil international certification, the impacts of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) on Indonesia’s strategic commodities, environmental movements, forest governance in Indonesia, and inclusive commodity trade. Agustinus Moruk Taek, M.A

Agustinus Moruk Taek, M.A. (Ampy) is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada. Ampy’s research interests are issues of international political economy, international development, and governmentalism. Ampy has joined several research projects analyzing global value chains and sustainable development goals. Furthermore, Ampy has published several researches on governance and sustainable development goals. In doing research, Ampy has worked collaboratively with various Indonesian government agencies and ministries.

Rizky Alif Alvian, MIR

Rizky Alif Alvian, MIR (Alif) is a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Gadjah Mada with a focus on international political theory, international securities studies, strategy, negotiation and conflict resolution, and democracy studies. In Alif’s academic journey, Alif is directly involved in various research projects on counter-extremism in Indonesia and Indonesian foreign policy. In 2021, he also reviewed research with the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada, entitled Forging Knowledge Co-Production on International Trade and Circular Economy Linkages in Developing Countries. Alif has also been actively writing for various mass media since 2017 and participated in conferences such as the World Congress of Political Science (2018) and ISA Asia-Pacific Conference (2019).

Dr. Junita Widiati

Dr. Junita Widiati (Nita) has been a researcher at the UGM Center for World Trade Studies since 2020. Nita has been involved in various research experiences related to circular economy studies and education management. Nita has also made several publications such as a comparative study of education in Indonesia and Japan and published a book entitled “Sekolah yang Menyenangkan” in 2013.

Dr. Siti Arifah Purnamasari

Dr. Siti Arifah Purnamasari (Arifah) is a researcher and Coordinator of the Training Division at the UGM Center for World Trade Studies with research interests in Agribusiness and International Trade, Agriculture and Food, Circular Economy and Food Waste, and Technical Aspects of Trade. Arifah has been involved in various research projects since 2012, the most recent of which is entitled “Strategic Issues Assessment of Indonesian Creative Economy Service Trade in the Culinary Subsector and Mapping of Tobacco and Tobacco Products Industry in Kebumen Regency” in 2021.

Dr. Akhmad Akbar Susamto

Dr. Akhmad Akbar Susamto (Akbar) is a senior lecturer in the Department of Economic Science, Faculty of Economy and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada. Akbar has over 15 years of experience in Economics Studies. Recently, Akbar worked as the Head of Economic Development study program for post-graduate students in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Akbar also worked as Research Director in CORE Indonesia, a think-tank group for economic issues based in Jakarta. Akbar published some research such as “Subsidized Health Insurance Impact among the Poor: evidence on Out-of-pocket Health Expenditures in Indonesia” in Jurnal Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan, “Public Ownership and Local Bank Lending at the Time of the Covid-19 Pandemic: Evidence from Indonesia” in Pacific Basin Finance Journal.

Suci Lestari Yuana, PhD (Cand)

Suci Lestari Yuana (Nana) is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of International Relations UGM. Nana has research interests in sustainability transition, discourse analysis, circular economy, and international political economy. Throughout 2020, Nana has received three awards, namely the Best Paper Award at the 11th International Sustainability Transition Conference 2020, Committee Member of Transition in the Global South Thematic Groups STRN, and High-Quality Academic Paper Awards by BRIN. Some of Nana’s latest publications are in the Journal of Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions volumes 37 and 41 in 2021.

Siti Daulah Khoiriati, M.A.

Dra. Siti Daulah Khoiriati, M.A. (Daulah) is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada and lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Daulah’s research interests are issues related to political economy, trade, investment, and development. Daulah published research on “The Formation of Bilateral FTA in Political-Economy Perspective, Comparing the US and the Japanese Model FTA” (CWTS Journal); “Indofood: The Transformation of Indonesia’s EM-MNC” (Book Chapter IIS 2013), and; “Understanding the Formation of ASEAN Economic Community from the Perspective of Constructivism” (Book Chapter ASEAN, 2018). The research Daulah produced that correlates with the timber trade was “Transnational Actor in Global Furniture Trade” (Department of IR, 2012).

Taufiq Adiyanto, LL.M

Taufiq Adiyanto, LL.M. (Taufiq) is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law UGM with a focus on tax law, international trade law, and energy law. Taufiq has also actively studied policy issues as a researcher at the UGM Center for World Trade Studies and the UGM Center for Energy Studies since 2018. Taufiq’s recent research experiences include The Global Minimum Tax: An Alarm for Inbound Investment in Indonesia (2022), Cross-Cutting Issue Study: OECD Two Pillars and its Impact on Domestic Industry (2022), and Consultancy Services for the Provision of Substance Documents for the Organization of Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) and Digital Economy Minister's Meeting (DEMM) G20 Indonesia (2022).

Maria Angela Koes Sarwendah, S.I.P.

Maria Angela Koes Sarwendah, S.I.P. (Ela) is an aspiring researcher specializing in international political and economic development, commodity trade and diplomacy, and sustainability in trade. With a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Ela is further polishing her research skills at the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada to pursue her interests in promoting inclusive and sustainable development. Ela aims to contribute actively to the co-production of knowledge and community of practices as a means of development.

Angelina Chiquita Kurnia Putri, S.I.P.

Angelina Chiquita Kurnia Putri, S.I.P. (Angel) is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Angel demonstrates adeptness in sustainable economic development studies, Global-South studies, and circular economy in global value chain practices. Angel’s proficiency is evident in her meticulous exploration of various themes, including the nuanced intricacies of postcolonialism within the circular economy framework in rural Indonesian communities in her undergraduate thesis. Furthermore, Angel's tenure as a researcher since 2021 underscores her dedication to scholarly inquiry, as evidenced by her notable publications. These include in-depth studies such as “Empirical Overview of the Enactment of EU Deforestation Free Regulation (EUDR) on the Strategic Commodities of Indonesia” analyzing the agriculture and forestry sector. Additionally, Angel also works on "Ekonomi Sirkular dalam Gagasan Universal dan Praktik Lokal: Eksplorasi dan Kontekstualisasinya di Indonesia,"  in analyzing socio-economic environments.

Muhammad Rasyid Ridho, MA.

Muhammad Rasyid Ridho, MA. (Ridho) is a researcher specializing in political economy and development. With a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Gadjah Mada University, Ridho is interested in Southeast Asia and China. Ridho pursues his interest in further research at the Center for World Trade Studies of Universitas Gadjah Mada to discuss issues and research related to the main theme of circular economy. As the journal publication manager of the Center for World Trade Studies at Gadjah Mada University, Ridho is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day technical matters related to the Journal of World Trade Studies (JWTS).

Lukas Andri Surya Singarimbun, S.I.P.

Lukas Andri Surya Singarimbun, S.I.P. (Lukas) is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada focusing on international trade, political economy, and sustainability in trade. Lukas has been involved in several research projects including palm oil and its governance in Indonesia, the circular economy, and the political economy of international trade and investment. Lukas is interested in studying international negotiations and multilateral trade agreements, particularly in the commodities sector. Lukas has published several articles related to commodity diplomacy in international and national media. Lukas is also currently joining research in analyzing the governance of palm oil in Indonesia from CPOPC.

Theofillius Baratova Axellino Kristanto, S.Sos.

Theofillius Baratova Axellino Kristanto, S. Sos (Theo) is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies of Universitas Gadjah Mada who concentrates his studies on the topics of political sociology, environmental politics, and social research methods. As Head of the Policy Partnership Division at the Center for World Trade Studies of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Theo has conducted various policy research at the local, national, and international levels. Theo also helped formulate policy recommendations and provided technical guidance to policy stakeholders in various regions in Indonesia. Theo has internship experience at The Asia Foundation on the Resilience of Democracy project to help implement field programs such as data collection, monitoring and evaluation, and program mentoring and was involved in the formation of the Yogyakarta Cross Issues Coalition. As a researcher at Suryakanta Institute, Theo focuses on research related to legislative policy and political mapping as well as the provision of political consultancy.

Ika Risky Ariyanti, S.I.P.

Ika Risky Ariyanti, S.I.P. is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies, Gadjah Mada University, specializing in political economy and international development and serves as a member of the Policy Partnership Division at the Center for World Trade Studies, Gadjah Mada University.

Mario Aden Bayu Valendo, S.I.P.

Mario Aden Bayu Valendo, S.I.P. is a researcher at Gadjah Mada University's Center for World Trade Studies who focuses on global politics and security. As Head of Community Empowerment and Outreach Division and Researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada, he has strengthened community collaboration in circular economy and social movements through the Indonesia Consortium for Circular Economy (ICCE). She has increased the capacity of social-based communities and SMEs by organizing training classes. She is interested in governance and public policy, social movements, and environment and development.  He has published several academic journals and policy recommendations related to economic democracy and development politics.

Arda Kusumawati, S.E.

 Arda Kusumawati, S.E. (Ardha) is a social volunteer who works in the fields of literacy, education, and the environment. Ardha acts as a ... at the Center for World Trade Studies, Gadjah Mada University. Writing to build relationships in community development and negotiation with potential partners are Ardha’s skills. Ardha has been involved in several article-writing projects, book communities, and nature conservation discussion forums.

Fitri Indriyajati, S.A., ACPA

Fitri Indriyajati, S.A., ACPA is a researcher at the Center for World Trade Studies at Gadjah Mada University with a focus on accounting information systems. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with certificates in Tax Brevet A and B, Accounting Management, and Audit. She has internship experience and expertise in tax audit and archiving documents related to tax reporting.

Muna Rihadatul Aisi, S.Sos.

Muna Rihadatul Aisi, S.Sos. (Aisi) is a full-time graphic designer at Gadjah Mada University's Center for World Trade Studies. During her studies in Social Development and Welfare at Gadjah Mada University, Aisi focused her research on social development issues and disability rights on campus. Aisi has internship experience in the Communication and Media Division at the Institute for Research and Empowerment (IRE) Yogyakarta and the Center for World Trade Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Adriani Zulivan, S.Sos.

Adriani Zulivan, S.Sos is a researcher and Social Media Manager at the Center for World Trade Studies with interests in media, disability, heritage preservation, culture, animal welfare, urban development, disaster management, rural innovation, and mothers and children. With her study background in Social Development and Welfare, she has experience working on projects of non-governmental organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and others, especially related to media and communication, related to environmental and health issues, mothers and children, disaster risk management, and pluralism. She has actively contributed to communities working on urban, disaster, heritage preservation, animal welfare, and environmental issues.

Izzatinnisa, MA.

Izzatinnisa, MA. (Zati) is a master's student of International Relations at Gadjah Mada University. During her studies, Zati is interested in Global Political Economy, especially circular economy and international development. Zati has internship experience as a podcast production team and research assistant at the Center for World Trade Studies of Gadjah Mada University, as well as an editor member of Palito Journal of Andalas University.

Christina Vania Winona, S.I.P.

Christina Vania Winona, S.I.P. (Vania) is a Head of Secretarial Research at the Center for World Trade Studies at Gadjah Mada University. Vania’s research interests include economic democracy, political economy, and nonviolent movements. Vania is responsible for administrative tasks including drafting letters, memos, reports, contracts, and other documents required for staff and research projects, as well as analyzing and collecting data and findings for research purposes.
